Some major players of India's ayurveda sector would promote the country's traditional system of medicine and its healing aspects at a convention to be held in the US from tomorrow. The three-day Indo-American Wellness Conclave and Exhibition, 2018, at California's Santa Clara Convention Centre will discuss "Wellness and its pursuit" according to India's traditional practices. Besides American wellness companies, a large number of Indian firms like Kerala Ayurveda, Dabur and AIMIL Pharmaceuticals are participating in the event. The wellness summit would be an opportunity for the country to prove its credentials in ayurveda, the representative of a company participating in the event said. Besides, showcasing different products related to ayurveda, yoga, herbal and natural medicine, the participants would also reach out to global leaders by presenting the efficacy of ayurvedic products, he said. A brainstorming session would be held at the event which is expected to create awareness about ayurveda.
"Usually, diabetes drugs are first developed by developed countries and then sold in India. However, this is for the first time that we would be showcasing indigenously-developed anti-diabetic drug to the world," a participant said, adding that CSIR developed anti-diabetic drug BGR-34 which is being showcased at the summit. Executive Director of AIMIL Pharmaceuticals Sanchit Sharma, who is participating in the event, said that to improve its ranking in wellness index, the USA is looking to herbal products, and it is a matter of pride. Herbal products from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Northeastern states would also be showcased at the event.
